The successful candidate will have the following:

 

  • Excellent organisational skills, with a proven ability to manage and deliver multiple projects on time and to budget. Capable of working under pressure and making decisions with a high degree of autonomy when required.
  • PhD in epidemiology, medical statistics or a related discipline.
  • Excellent knowledge of epidemiological and statistical techniques and study design.
  • In depth understanding of the challenges involved in using electronic health records in public health research, including the use of Stata and/or R. Familiarity with research using primary care data.
  • Knowledge of regulation and governance of using electronic health records for research within the English and devolved administration’s legal, ethical and governance environments
  • Track record in publishing epidemiological research analysing large electronic health records databases.
  • Experience in data characterisation and developing tools to add value to, or analyse, complex datasets.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in presenting research, writing study protocols, and drafting strategic papers and manuscripts for publication
  • Good team player, working closely with colleagues to deliver organisational objectives. Self-motivated, with a strong sense of personal accountability, ensuring tasks, projects and issues are appropriately dealt with to their successful delivery or conclusion
