We have exciting opportunities at NIBSC for two Microbiome scientists to join the Microbiome Team at NIBSC to research and develop the areas of Microbiome Standardization, FMT, and Microbiome product development.

 

A centre of the MHRA, The National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC) is a global leader in the characterisation, standardisation and control of biological medicines. NIBSC plays a major role in assuring the quality of biological medicines worldwide through the provision of biological reference materials, by testing products and carrying out research.

 

The posts are initially for one year and are funded by Innovate UK. Future opportunities may arise for an extension; however, this will be dependent on funding. The post-holders will be responsible for the design, implementation, and analysis of a number of microbiome research and standards projects. These projects aim to standardize current microbiome methodologies and produce reference reagents for distribution to the wider microbiome community.

 

The successful candidate will develop and lead the implementation of the Innovate UK funded ‘Creating Standards for microbiome therapies’ program, lead and perform all necessary laboratory work and analysis related to the program and provide expert scientific advice and contribute to the long-term strategy of the microbiome research team.

Educated to an appropriate level with a demonstrable record of previous research and with a track record of leading research projects in the area of the microbiome, microbial ecology, or microbiology the candidate will have wide and deep experience in areas related to the role.

 

You will be a strong communicator, be able to make decisions and based on available data and be adept at developing strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. To find out more details of the role and the person we are looking for click here
